The 7th grade is beginning The Water Project on Monday, 10/20. For two weeks the students and teachers of the 7th grade will be participating in a challenge to raise money and awareness for the water crisis in Sudan, a topic we have been studying for the past month. The challenge asks students to only drink water for two weeks and donate the money they save on beverages (soda, juice, etc.) to the cause. Students and teachers will be wearing blue wristbands to show that they are participating and to spread awareness about this global issue.


2nd Annual Freaky Fall Fling and Festival

Come out and join us for the 2nd Annual Freaky Fall Fling and Festival on Oct 24, 2011 at HJM. We will begin with a dance(5$) in the gym at the end of the school day 3:30-5:00 with DJ Clay Kirschner. Then the festival will begin with games, concessions , silent auction and raffle. Dont' forget to wear your HJM t-shirt to be entered in a surprise drawing..We will kindly accept Donations, sponsors for the games, prizes for the raffle, cakes for the cakewalk. Get ten tickets for 5$ and let the fun begin. Thank you for your support!



The Craven County Schools in conjunction with the Partners In Education (PIE) are conducting a book drive for new and gently used books for Preschool -12 grade.  Books can be dropped off at the Books-A-Million store in New Bern or at your local school.  The book drive will run from November 3 through November 7.  We are looking for books appropriate for our students, pre-school through grade 12.


2014-2015 School Year

H. J. MacDonald Middle School will begin school/instruction at 8:30 am daily.  Students will be dismissed at 3:30 pm. Arrival time for carpoolers and walkers is 7:45 am.
