Frequently Asked Questions


How do I monitor my child's progress in school?

Parents are encouraged to communicate with their child's teacher and guidance counselor.  Please refer to the Staff Directory web page for teacher email addresses and teacher web page information.

1.  Progress Reports are issued midway through the nine weeks--September 29, December 9, March 2, and May 5.

2.  Report Cards are issued at the end of each nine-week grading period--November 5, January 29, April 14.  End-of-year report cards are mailed home in June.

What are the general school rules?

Each student is given a copy of the Craven County Schools Student Policies and Regulations manual and a copy of the Havelock High School Student Handbook on the first day of school.  Our goal is to provide a safe learning and working environment for students and staff.

When is Driver's Ed offered?

CCS contracts with a driving agency to provide driver education training for our students.  Mr. David Garner, Associate Principal, is the person to contact at HHS concerning driver education.

How do I obtain the Driver Eligibility Certificate for my child?

The student and parent/guardian should take the Driver Education Certificate to the main office for validation.  Complete instructions are available on the Driver Eligibility web page.

How can I find my child's bus route?

The bus routes are published in the local newspapers at the beginning of each school year and are also available the the Bus Routes web site.  Questions concerning student transportation should be directed to Mr. Tim Daly, Assistant Principal.

Where can I learn about activities taking place in school?

Students should listen to the daily announcements and can check the monthly event calendar displayed in the 300 hallway.  Activities are also displayed on the Havelock High School Calendar web page.

Are there any tutoring programs available for my child?

Learning Centers are held after school every day except Wednesday.  Students should check with their teachers to find out the learning center dates and times for each instructor.  Our National Honor Society members can also work individually with students.  Interested students should contact Mrs. Debbie Sabin, NHS sponsor, in Room 505.
