Family Literacy

Craven County Family Literacy receives funding from our local Craven Smart Start.

Craven County Family Literacy Program is a federal Even Start Program. It is operated by Craven County Schools and Craven Community College. We offer GED and ESL classes for parents of children ages birth to seven years of age.

Classes are held on Monday through Thursday, with a monthly home visit scheduled for one Friday each month. The program operates following the Craven County Schools traditional school calendar.

Our comprehensive family literacy program provides classes for adult education, parenting education, Parent and Child Together time, and early childhood for infants & toddlers, preschoolers and pre-kindergarteners.

Our programs are located on the campuses of two local elementary schools, Vanceboro Farm Life Elementary in Vanceboro, and James W. Smith Elementary near Cove City.
