The Human Resource Services Division (HRS) of Craven County Schools performs numerous functions that affect not only our existing staff but also potential employees, from the initial hiring process up to and including retirement.  The Human Resource Services Division is here to serve our employees, our schools, and the surrounding communities.  We pride ourselves in being recruiters of local educators as well as reaching across the United States to employ the most capable individuals.  The Craven County School System values its employees and is proud to provide an enriching and inviting work environment.

Information About Licensure

* Renewal Credit Information *

The state has recently changed the amount of renewal credits needed and this change will effect those who renew in 2016.  This change does not effect anyone who renewed prior to 2016.

K-8 Teachers:

  • 8 total credits
  • 3 academic credits
  • 3 literacy credits

 

Pre-K, Secondary Teachers and Student Service Support Personnel

  • 8 total credits
  • 3 academic credits

 

Administrators:

  •  8 total credits
  • 3 leadership credits

 

National Board Certification:

First time National Boards will receive enough credit to renew a license.  Renewal of National Boards will receive 1 academic credit and 1 literacy credit.

 

Activities accepted for renewal credit:

  • College or university courses
    • Transcripts are required as documentation; grade reports are not accepted.
  • Local in-service courses or workshops
    • The administrative unit certifies credits
  • Classes and workshops approved by an LEA
    • Documentation of completion is provided by the agency sponsoring the activity
